10 Ways a Good Man is Like Cowgirl Boots

I’ve come to realize of late that a good man is an awful lot like a sturdy pair of cowgirl boots.

How so?

Well, they will both:

1. …protect you from snakes.

2. …cut through the crap.

3. …look as good in jeans as out.

4. …refuse to fall apart, even under stress.

5. …have a tough but flexible sole/soul.

6. …be easy to get on, and damn hard to shake off.

7. …look better with a few scuffs and wrinkles.

8. …start off a little slippery, but get grounded as you wear on ‘em.

9. …shape themselves perfectly to you…with time.

10. …come at a cost, but last forever.

  1. Agree with Dee. Today would have been my cowboy’s birthday. Life is fleeting, but love lasts forever.

  2. I love it! The only difference that I would point out is that while I only have one boy, I have several pairs of boots…

    Thanks for the smile :)

  3. #11 (added by my cowboy after reading this to him as we went to gather up some horses): They keep you well connected to the ground.

Now I don’t know if that was just because I’m a bird-brain scientist somedays or silly city slicker….but I continually get reminded of reality by cattle-folk. :)

    • There was always something very real – and a little bit sexy – about seeing those beat up Tony Lamas parked by our bed at night.

      • I have a lotta love for seeing his big *insert fancy name here* boots and spurs beside my smaller, more feminine ones at the back door. Both are always covered in you-know-what and remind me of so many good laughs

      • It’s been 11 years and I would gladly welcome even the ‘you-know-what’. Guess there’s just something about a cowboy!
